Synopsis The full title of this publication is World Bowls - Laws of the Sport of Bowls - Crystal Mark Edition - (including domestic regulations for Bowls England). ('Crystal Mark Edition' relates to the seal of approval for clarity given by the Plain English Campaign who were asked by World Bowls to edit the draft text.) In effect the booklet is the fourth edition of the familiar English version of the Laws of the Sport of Bowls with all but the covers relating to the laws as published by World Bowls - the two inside covers listing the domestic regulations for Bowls England. The World Bowls Laws came into effect in the southern hemisphere in September 2006 and applied from 1 April 2007 in the northern hemisphere. The booklet is about 20 pages longer than its predecessor and, in addition to a welcome six pages of diagrams, has a more logical structure and contents section and improved typography.

Please note that this booklet contains amendments concerning domestic regulations in England. For corresponding regulations in other countries please contact the relevant bowls authority.

Copies of the booklet can be obtained from Bowls England; click 'Merchandise' on the left-hand menu for details.

The excellent Training Manual of the English Bowls Umpires Association includes the full text of the new Laws and, starting on page 96, provides detailed and illustrated notes on those that require some clarification and interpretation. The manual is in portable document file (PDF) format which requires installation of the free Adobe Reader program.
