Synopsis Vic Muir has had a sporting career dating back for nearly 40 years as he looks back over his early days as Queensland and Metropolitan champion amateur wrestler and his 23 years as a competitive bowler with 18 of those years as an accredited RQBA and National levels 1 and 2 lawn bowls coach. He wound up his wrestling career as a coach and during his 10 years in this capacity his emphasis was on biomechanics, balance, leverage and tactics.

As a competitive bowler he has won over 40 titles including Queensland pairs 1972, Metropolitan singles 1971, Sunshine fours (twice) and many Masters events. He has represented Queensland in interstate competitions playing against every state in Australia, and has competed in invitation singles against some of the best bowlers Australia has produced.

As a coach and instructor at bowls, he still places emphasis on biomechanics, balance, leverage and tactics which he so successfully applied in his wrestling days. He is much sought after as a lecturer and seminar speaker with a great success record in the coaching of beginners, semi-advanced and advanced players.

Lawn Bowls - Straight from the Shoulder sets out in very readable style a pattern for improvement for bowlers of all levels. The photographs and diagrams make easy the understanding of the basics which are so essential for the enjoyment of bowls as both a pastime and competitive game.
