| Synopsis | Bill Croft, the author of Bolf, is an Australian National Coach and Umpire. In 1985 the idea of producing a bowls game that accurately measured skills and produced valid comparisons between players first appealed to him. He considered the values espoused by golf and its handicap system, and wondered whether a game could be played on a bowls green using a mixture of the two great ancient games. Thus was born Bolf, so named because it contains elements of both games.
Bolf is a systematic method of playing bowling shots of varying degrees of difficulty that can be measured and given a value. Its purpose is to improve the skills of bowlers by presenting to them a system which indicates where their strengths and weaknesses lie, and in doing so enables them to work on these revealed areas to effect the desired improvements. Now available as a downloadable ebook, Bolf can be played as a game, employed as a training tool or used as a handicapping mechanism. |
